Economic choice of survey instrument specs

Post by Adero » Thu Oct 05, 2017 9:01 pm

The craze of going for 1" Total Stations and similar impressive accuracy specs such as high-end k + x ppm is mostly unjustified. You may find that your company will do very well with 10" Total Station for the main assignment at hand, and hence save on capital investment. How many graduates can confidently confirm they learnt properly how to arrive at the most economical choice of instrument specs to prefer for a given survey assignment? Your employer may just test you with this task of advising on instruments specs, as the first assignment at the workplace.

I will explain with examples, depending on the feedback.
